C. P. E. Bach Oboe Concerto in E flat Major, W. 165
Heinz Holliger Eisblumen (1985)
Sandor Veress Passacaglia Concertante for Oboe and Strings
Bela Bartok Divertimento for String Orchestra
A world-renowned soloist and a distinguished orchestra join to open our eighth full season of chamber music and inaugurate Argonne's new auditorium in the Advanced Photon Source Conference Center.
Heinz Holliger is, by all accounts, the finest oboe player in the world, a master whose ``circular breathing'' techniques have revolutionized the playing of that difficult instrument. He is also a noted composer and active conductor.
``Camerata Bern's exacting ensemble play and scrupulous attention to dynamics never wavered. Their interpretations were well-conceived, their sound opulent.'' ( Washington Post)
``is a group of young Swiss musicians who prove in every way worthy of their Mannheim predecessors in tone, temperament, technique and style they give distinguished, vital performances.'' ( The New York Times)
The concert will be presented in the Auditorium of the APS Conference Center at Argonne. A reception will follow the performance. Use the order form to order your tickets now. Remaining tickets will be sold in the lobby of the Cafeteria (Building 213) during the week of October 9 between noon and 1:00 p.m. and in the Auditorium before the performance.
