Haydn Divertimento in F, Hob. II:23
          von Weber Rondo (1808)
          Beethoven Rondino, Op. posth.
          Krommer Nonette, Op. 79
          Mozart Serenade No. 10 in B flat, K. 360/449a (``Gran Partita'')

In the 18th and 19th century, thousands of works were written by some very talented musicians for combinations of wind instruments and contrabass. Most of this music is completely obscure today, and even Mozart's ``Gran Partita,'' one of the masterpieces of the Harmoniemusik repertoire, is seldom performed.

New York Philomusica has made programs of this music for many years. In 1979, they recorded the ``Gran Partita,'' along with the ``Serenades'' Nos. 11 and 12 by Mozart and arrangements of the operas ``Marriage of Figaro'' and ``Cosi fan tutte'' by Wendt---a highly regarded recording still available in the VoxBox series.

The program will feature thirteen performers: Ronald Roseman and Alicia Chapman, oboes; Joseph Rabbai and Frank Perowsky, clarinets; Cynde Iverson and Jeffrey Marchand, bassoons; David Krakauer and Dennis Smylie, basset horns; Robert Johnson, Glen Estrin, Lawrence DiBello, and Abe Kniaz, French horns; and Gail Kruvand, contrabass. The musicians will give a brief introduction to the Harmonie phenomenon before the program.

The concert will be presented in the Auditorium of the APS Conference Center (Bldg. 402) at Argonne. A reception will follow the performance. Tickets will be sold in the Argonne Cafeteria (Bldg. 213) during the week of April 15 between noon and 1:00 p.m. and in the Auditorium Box Office before the performance.
