Film crews begin shooting at Argonne

Reprinted from the Argonne News, Feb. 12, 1996.

Shooting begins this week for "Dead Drop," an action thriller being filmed in part at the Argonne-East site. The 20th Century Fox film stars Keanu Reeves and Morgan Freeman and is directed by Chicago native Andrew Davis ("The Fugitive").

On Monday, Feb. 12, filming will be done at the laboratory's east gate and on Cass Avenue. This means the east gate will be closed to laboratory traffic all day, and the section of Cass Avenue across from Argonne Park will be shut down intermittently by DuPage County Sheriff's officers during the filming.

After Monday, filming moves indoors for the remainder of the week.

Both the exterior and interior filming this week will be done on "closed sets," which means there will not be an opportunity for Argonne employees to watch the filming this week. However, when the cast and crew return in April to shoot exterior scenes in the 360 area, a section will be roped off for Argonne employees and their families to watch as their schedules permit.
