Emergency drill scheduled Saturday morning near Argonne site
ARGONNE, Ill. (June 8, 2007) — Argonne National Laboratory will be host
on Saturday to a multiple-agency emergency drill that will take place along
South Cass Avenue near the Argonne site next to Darien.
The drill will begin about 8:30 a.m., and will include police and fire departments
from 10 jurisdictions across DuPage County, including hazardous materials
response teams, who will dress in full gear as part of the exercise. The exercise
is expected to conclude at about 2:30 p.m.
The simulated incident will take place near Argonne's east entrance, and the
emergency response equipment will be staged at the entrance to Argonne park,
so the events will be visible to passers-by. Signs along Cass Avenue will be
posted to indicate that the event is a drill and not an actual emergency.
