Wastewater technologies for advanced metals removal

May 1, 2011

Researchers from Argonne and the Purdue University Calumet Water Institute have revealed promising technologies aimed at reducing mercury and vanadium in refinery wastewater going into the Great Lakes. The independent study was funded by BP North America Inc. Under Argonne's leadership, this research will help verify the technologies' performance under varying conditions on a larger scale, determine preliminary costs if implemented by industry and provide solid direction to improve the Great Lakes' water quality.
