Jason Harper is an electrical engineer. His research is focused on the development and validation of plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) charging and smart grid communication codes and standards. The goal of Harper’s research and development efforts is to provide practical applications that enhance the market acceptance and interoperability of PEVs and the infrastructure needed to charge them. He is involved in Argonne’s Smart Grid-Electric Vehicle Interoperability Center, which develops groundbreaking technologies for grid connectivity, bridging the needs of electric vehicle manufacturers and utility companies.
Prior to joining Argonne in 2011, Harper worked in the avionics, medical device and chemical instrumentation industries. He holds two U.S. patents on novel chemical instrumentation and has published numerous peer-reviewed technical papers. Harper is an active member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and provides key contributions to the SAE Hybrid Task Force Committee.
