Kathleen Carrado Gregar came to Argonne as a postdoc in the Chemistry Division after attaining her Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry. During her 20 years in that division, she rose eventually to group leader of the Catalyst Design Group with research on new catalysts and designer carbons based on layered materials and characterization by diffraction, microscopy, neutron scattering, and synchrotron X-ray radiation techniques.

Now the manager of User & Outreach Programs at the CNM, her roles include responsibility for the development of strategic alliances and collaborative partnerships with academia, industry, and the user community at large, as well as to manage user programs administration.

Katie has authored over 60 peer reviewed papers, seven book chapters, three books, and has four patents. She serves in governance positions for the American Chemical Society’s Fuel Chemistry Division.
