L. Walter Deitrich

Dr. L. W. Deitrich has over 40 years of experience in research and development of nuclear reactors, mostly at Argonne National Laboratory. His work has spanned most areas of reactor technology, ranging from research and test reactors to large power reactors, with concentration on safety and technology of liquid-metal cooled fast reactors. He served in increasingly responsible positions in leadership of R&D programs, including Director of the Reactor Engineering Division and Senior Technical Advisor to the Associate Laboratory Director for Engineering Research.

After his retirement in 2003, Dr. Deitrich served as a Senior Safety Officer at the International Atomic Energy Agency for three years. He is now a part-time senior technical advisor in the Nuclear Engineering Division at Argonne and a consultant to the IAEA.
