Argonne National Laboratory

Education Community Outreach
" All the world is my school and all humanity is my teacher." - George Whitman, Poet

Argonne's Education Outreach Program participates in a number of regional outreach events throughout the year. On-site events include: Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, Science Careers in Search of Women, and the Cyber Defense Competition.  Off-site events include: Middle School Science Bowl Competition, Electric Car Competitions, High School Autonomous Vehicle Competition, STEM fests, career days, and STEM expos.  During these various events youth and families are encouraged to engage their curiosity and wonder about the world by developing an awareness of cutting-edge research in energy, national security and computer science.

Argonne's Education Outreach Program also strives to provide youth and families with opportunities to connect to world class researchers and engineers. This is done through recruiting, training and matching on-site staff, who are part of the education volunteer program, to various outreach events. Staff volunteers interact with the community in the following ways:  judges for competitions and science fairs, experts to speak to classrooms, and overall support of the education department in the development of activities and as role models at career days.
