Argonne National Laboratory

Temporary Employment
"My internship helped me to learn a great deal and make an informed decision as to my future career options." -Summer 2013 Intern

Argonne provides undergraduates and graduates opportunities to work on a temporary basis with scientists and engineers as a Research Aide. In this position, students are assigned specific technical tasks to support their assigned division’s research agenda and needs.

As temporary employees, students earn a salary and are expected to possess the skills required to do the assigned task when they arrive. Understanding the scientific basis for the work is generally not emphasized. Unlike research internships, research aide appointments are considered jobs at Argonne.

These appointments are made primarily during the summer months.
