Adventures with Superconducting Circuits: Quantum Computing and Beyond

Abstract: Superconducting circuits are often considered as one of the most promising architectures for the eventual implementation of quantum information processing devices. Their flexibility has been also proven to be useful in modeling various quantum phenomena, which may otherwise be difficult to explore experimentally.

In this talk, after a brief introduction, we will concentrate on three specific applications:

  1. We will examine the coherence properties of a novel, recently proposed superconducting qubit, called the "0-Pi" qubit.
  2. We will analyze a newly demonstrated architecture consisting of multiple harmonic modes coupled to a transmon qubit, where the qubit is parametrically modulated to carry out logical operations and readout
  3. We will outline a proposal of a setup consisting of a flux-tunable coplanar waveguide resonator coupled to a charge qubit, which could be used to study both Casimir and Casimir-Polder like effects in a superconducting circuit system.
