SLAC Director Persis Drell will present “The Evolution of SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory” at the Director’s Special Colloquium Monday, June 11, at 10 a.m. at the Building 402 Auditorium.

Abstract:
With the operation of the LCLS — the world’s first X-ray free-electron laser — SLAC has opened a new scientific frontier. In her presentation, Persis will detail SLAC’s transition into a multi-program laboratory exploring frontier questions in photon science, astrophysics, particle physics and accelerator research. She also will delve into the evolution and transformation of the field of particle physics and the ways that SLAC is responding to today’s rapidly changing scientific landscape.
