Abstract:
Helium capture reactions are taking place during various phases of stellar evolution, from the Helium burning phase of a star to the alpha-process during the thermonuclear runaway of an X-ray burst. In some environments, (a,n) reactions provide the neutrons needed for the s-process. The vanishingly small cross section of those reactions at relevant energies may be influenced by the presence of resonances close to, or below, the threshold.

In this talk, a variety of experimental methods used for the investigation of Helium capture will be discussed. Direct and indirect studies will be presented along with technical developments for future studies.
