High-Performance Computing and Manufacturing Workshop

January 17, 2018 8:30AM to 1:00PM
Building 402, Room Gallery

Argonne's Manufacturing Science and Engineering Initiative will host an internal workshop to identify Argonne’s strengths in high-performance computing (HPC) and how they can be applied to build a robust manufacturing science program. The goal of the workshop is to define opportunities for program growth and to find new ways to add HPC capabilities to existing programs to enhance the success rate of proposals and industry engagements. The role of computing in next-generation manufacturing and the impact the lab can have in this domain is limitless. This will be a collaboration among lead thinkers and computational scientists to determine the path forward starting from atoms to manufacturing scale problems. There will be ample opportunities for discussion with speakers and panelists to shape the future opportunities.
All Argonne researchers are encouraged to attend and share ideas during the panel discussion sections and during the public forum section at the end of the workshop.

Some the topic areas to be discussed include: multiscale science, mesoscale modeling, continuum scale modeling, process modeling, design of reactions and reactors, materials design, machine learning, artificial intelligence and opportunities for exascale.
