Intersections Between Nuclear Physics and Quantum Information
The U.S. Department of Energy Office of Nuclear Physics (DOE-ONP) is developing a strategy for quantum information science in the context of nuclear physics. All researchers who have an interest in exploring synergies between quantum information science and nuclear physics are invited to attend.
This workshop will bring together experts to explore a diverse array of subjects within quantum information science where DOE-ONP assets can make significant contributions, and conversely, how these fields can impact nuclear physics. Directions to be explored include
- Areas where nuclear physics theory can help map physical problems to a form that can be studied using quantum computers
- Areas of experimental quantum computing where nuclear physics resources or expertise can have a strong impact and accelerate development
- Quantum sensing technologies that can be used to improve nuclear physics experiments
