Abstract:
Events with missing energies provide important channels for new physics searches at colliders. They appear in many new physics models with a dark matter candidate. I will give a more systematic discussion of the kinematic variables which are designed for individual event topologies of signals or backgrounds. They are useful in improving new physics searches as well as determining the masses of new particles once they are discovered.
