Abstract:
The Natural Resource Economics and Systems Analysis Team is involved in several projects related to the energy-water nexus. By using a life cycle approach, we have investigated water consumption per lifetime energy output for several different types of geothermal and natural gas resources. This life cycle work has been combined with resource data and water availability data to identify potential areas of water-related challenges to development. Ongoing work incorporates the potential use of lower quality water and the cost of delivering water to power plants.
