Systems Analysis of the Energy Water Nexus: Integrating Resources, Policy and Economics

February 13, 2014 12:00PM to 1:00PM
Ashlynn Stillwell, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Room Change: Building 240, Room 1404 - 1405
EVS Seminar
The energy-water nexus is a complex relationship between resources, where energy depends on water and water depends on energy. These intricacies between resources present many tradeoffs that have over-arching implications in the public policy environment. Systems analysis is one approach to understanding the energy-water nexus by combining optimization, GIS multicriteria decision analysis, economics, and statistical analysis tools. This talk will present some of Dr. Stillwell's previous, current, and future work on the energy-water nexus, specifically water and thermoelectric power plants, and the relationship with public policy.
