WIST First Friday Forum: August 2013
Erin is Argonne’s first Gender Diversity Specialist and will work to develop systematic approaches for the representation, development and advancement of researchers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers at the Laboratory while engaging both female and male staff. Erin will discuss her background and what her role entails at the laboratory.
Attendees are invited to bring a lunch and invite colleagues. Coffee and pastries will be served.
About the Presenter
Erin L. Thomas, Gender Diversity Specialist, holds bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and International Studies and master’s degrees and a doctorate in Social Psychology from Yale University, where she conducted research on race and gender perceptions in workplace, economic and social policy contexts.
Erin has consulted for Catalyst, Inc., a leading non-profit organization dedicated to advancing women at work, while conducting her doctoral research at Yale University.
Erin’s research has received recognition and funding from numerous organizations such as the National Science Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the American Psychological Association and the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues.
Erin has also worked as a Dialogue Group Facilitator for the Yale College Dean’s Office, as an analyst for the Yale Science Collaborative Hands on Learning and Research (SCHOLAR) program, and in programmatic development for the Office of New Haven and State Affairs.
