Considerable Considerable knowledge of theoretical nuclear astrophysics with relevance to a future radioactive ion beam facility.
Considerable skill in mathematics, computational methods and techniques needed for Argonne programs, understanding scientific concepts and synthesizing results, written and oral communication.

Good Good knowledge of additional areas of nuclear physics. Good skill in interacting with colleagues.

Other This level of knowledge and skill is typically achieved through attainment of a Ph.D. in physics plus 2-3 years of post-doctoral experience. Also required are demonstrated motivation, energy, and ability to originate, carry out, and publish significant original research.
This level of knowledge, skill, experience and responsibility is comparable to that of assistant professor at a major university or leading engineering institution with a strong reputation in the sciences.
