Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  Provide support to ultrafast x-ray science R&D programs of interest to goals of Division. Responsible for beamline ultrafast laser system technical support. Support users ultrafast x-ray experiments involving the laser system. Ensure safe conduct of experiments using ultrafast laser systems. Responsible for completing periodic logs of the laser status, providing general maintenance of laser system, and maintaining an appropriate stock of laser system consumables. Assist in the design and construction of improvements to laser components, including laser safety control, laser beam transport and control, and diagnostics. Knowledge, Skills and Experience
   
  Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  Considerable
Skill and experience in the operation of high power ultrafast laser systems and specialized related laboratory apparatus related to such laser systems, knowledge and experience of laser interaction experiments, vacuum, detectors, and associated electronics.
  Good
Knowledge and hands on experience with high power ultrafast laser systems, including maintenance and diagnostics. Knowledge of cryogenic systems, and analog electronics. Communication skills for transmitting information and ideas to experimental scientists and support service personnel.
  Some
Organizational skills, general knowledge of high vacuum and machine shop practices and basic computer skills. Master's Degree and 0-2 years of experience/equivalent Bachelor's Degree and 2-5 years experience/equivalent
