Postdoctoral Researcher - Stochastic Optimization of Complex System
The Mathematics and Computer Science (MCS) Division at Argonne National Laboratory invites outstanding candidates to apply for a postdoctoral position focusing on the research in stochastic optimization methods, algorithms, and software for the design and management under uncertainty of complex energy systems.
Applicants must have recently received a Ph.D. in mathematics, computer science or a related discipline. The appointee will work as part of an integrated, multi-institution research team of mathematicians, computer scientist, and operations researchers. The efforts of this team cover stochastic optimization, optimal design, and automatic differentiation topics.
The appointment will be in the MCS Division, which has strong programs in scientific computing, software tools, and computational mathematics. Experience is required in computational optimization, stochastic models, and computational science applications. Considerable expertise in one of C/C++/Fortran under Unix/Linux environments is required. Experience in parallel programming algorithms is desirable. Some experience in interdisciplinary collaborative research is desirable.
Internationally recognized for innovative research in high-performance computing, the MCS Division supports an excellent computational environment that includes access to a scientific visualization laboratory and a distributed computing laboratory. Argonne is located in the southwestern Chicago suburbs, offering the advantages of affordable housing, good schools, and easy access to the cultural attractions of the city.
Candidates should submit an application via the Argonne website under division postdoctoral job openings for job requisition 314476 MCS . The application must include curriculum vitae; list of publications, abstracts, and significant presentations; and the names of three references, other than Argonne staff, who can attest to the candidate's ability and potential.
For further information about the Argonne division postdoctoral appointments, see the website . Questions can be addressed to Dr. Mihai Anitescu, MCS Division, by e-mail to anitescu@mcs.anl.gov.
