Basic Purpose |
| |
Provide assistance in the characterization of hazardous materials being offered into commerce from the Argonne site. Provide support in routing of shipments, account reconciliation and billing disputes. Assist in the areas of import/export regulations and controls for movement of commodities being shipped to and from the Laboratory internationally, household moves and the selection of appropriate carriers. Prepare shipments in compliance with the applicable regulations of the Department of Transportation (DOT), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), International Air Transport Association (IATA), DOE, U.S. Customs, OSHA, NRC and EPA.

Considerable Considerable knowledge of Federal, State, DOE, DOT Hazardous Materials, IATA Dangerous Goods, and EPA regulations.
Considerable skill in communicating with customers regarding issues and disputes.
Considerable skill in communicating with vendors and carriers and resolving billing disputes as well as service problems.
Considerable skill in time management, organization, and working on several projects simultaneously.

Good Good oral and written communication skills.
Good knowledge of shipping and receiving practices.

Some Knowledge of carrier rates, routes, time constraints and contract limitation for services. Knowledge and understanding of modal transportation is required.
Knowledge of rules and regulations governing transportation companies and laws pertaining to import, export and hazardous material handling. Awareness in the use of the DOE-Automated Transportation Management System (ATMS).

Other One to three years of DOT hazardous materials transportation experience is preferred. Marine and rail experience would be beneficial but not required.
Associate's Degree and 8-10 years of work experience or equivalent |
