Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  Design, fabricate, and operate high temperature molten salt electrolysis cells and characterize the results. Projects will focus on aspects of high-temperature aluminum electrolysis, including inert anode development, wetted cathode development, and electrolyte chemistry.   Considerable
Considerable skill in chemistry, electrochemistry, metallurgy, and material science. Considerable knowledge and experience in extractive metallurgy and experimental techniques in high temperature molten salt electrolysis, especially focused on aluminum electrolysis. Considerable skills in characterization using chemical, x-ray, and microscopic techniques. Considerable skill in developing experimental plans and procedures. Considerable skills in time management, organization, and working on multidisciplinary team efforts. Considerable skill and experience with advance laboratory equipment, analytical instrumentation, and laboratory techniques. Cosniderable skill in oral and written communications and presentations. Considerable skill in interacting with industrial and university contacts, sponsors, and team members.

This level of knowledge is typically achieved through a formal education in chemistry, materials science or a related field at the Ph.D. level and 6-10 years experience in operating lab-scale high-temperature aluminum electrolysis cells. Ph.D. and 6-10 years experience/equivalent Master's Degree and 8-12 years of experience/equivalent Bachelor's Degree and 12+ years experience/equivalent
