Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  Provide safety and conduct of operations leadership and field support for Deactivation, Decontamination and Demolition projects of nuclear and/or radiological facilities. Key responsibilities of this position include acting under the direction of the NOD Program Manager in support one of multiple NOD Project Managers in performing implementation of engineering and administrative controls to affect ES&H Hazard mitigation in the design of work under the NOD program. Complete mentoring, coaching and preventive and corrective actions in the implementation of the safe and compliant conduct of work. Designing engineering and administrative control requirements into statement of work and contract specification documents. Conduct field observation on behalf of the line to assure Industrial Hygiene and Radiation Protection, surveillance and maintenance and field monitoring and control programs are functioning. Compose work clearance permit, ES&H documents, to assure design of work is consistent with operation under Safety Basis Requirements. Affect compliant conduct of Industrial Hygiene and Radiation Safety Management Programs within ANL Nuclear Facility. Ensure NOD, laboratory matrixed, and subcontracted workforce perform work safely and compliantly in a nuclear operations environment. Provide support as needed to all aspects of Deactivation and Demolition safety including OSHA compliance evaluations, accident and incident reporting & investigation, work planning and control program, conduct of nuclear work, ISM assessments, external and internal audits safety program development.
   
  Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  Comprehensive
Comprehensive field implemented knowledge of Deactivation and Demolition (construction) safety and the applicable codes, standards, and regulations. Comprehensive ability to effectively communicate problems and solutions to workers and management, orally and in writing, to make good judgments and decisions in all situations, and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  Considerable
Considerable knowledge of industrial hygiene, radiological and industrial/construction safety, and the applicable codes and regulations; considerable ability to apply safety knowledge through the development and implementation of field relevant programs. Considerable knowledge of formal assessments, and the conduct of incident investigations and incident trending.
  Good
Good ability to apply computer based tools to the development of reports and the tracking of findings. Good ability to conduct training, classroom and hands-on.
  Some
This knowledge and level of skills are usually acquired through a formal education in one of the physical sciences or engineering, plus broad-based D&D and radiation protection, industrial hygiene and industrial or construction safety experience.
  Minimum Education/Experience Requirements
Ph.D. and 2-5 years experience/equivalent Master's Degree and 4-7 years of experience/equivalent Bachelor's Degree and 9-11 years experience/equivalent
