Basic Purpose |
| |
Assist the Associate Laboratory Director (ALD) in exercising line management, leadership, and cognizance within the ALDship organization. Participate in defining strategic directions for the ALDship and contribute to long range planning for major strategic initiatives. Assist ALD in determining and shaping the quality of programs and personnel. Lead and support development of initiatives and encourage innovations that lead to new research opportunities across basic and applied sciences and engineering programs. With ALD, serve as a primary spokesperson for the ALDship organization.
As the senior line manager reporting to the ALD, the incumbent acts as cognizant administrator for research and development and assessment in his or her areas of responsibility. These designated areas include all programmatic activities within the ALDship. The incumbent identifies and interacts with senior research sponsors and plays a lead and/or support role in securing and retaining funding for new programs depending on his/her specific qualifications and interests. Activities of incumbent are subject to review by the ALD. |
