Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  Responsible for planning and implementing synchrotron radiation research in support of the high-speed x-ray imaging program at beamline 32-ID; and for reporting relevant results in an appropriate form.
   
  Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  Considerable
Skill in experimental physics to develop advanced instrumentation and scientific applications for the 32-ID high-speed x-ray imaging program. Skill in understanding abstract concepts and synthesizing results within the current experimental and theoretical framework. Skill in written and oral communication.
  Good
Knowledge of x-ray imaging, x-ray physics and applications; Interest in- and knowledge of the physics of high-speed (transient) phenomena, such as liquid breakup, materials failure, gasless reactions, etc will be a plus.
  Minimum Education/Experience Requirements
Years Since Ph.D. -- 0-1, 1-2, 2-3
  A postdoctoral position is currently available with the Imaging Group of the X-ray Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory. This position is responsible for planning and implementing synchrotron radiation research in support of the high-speed x-ray imaging program at beamline 32-ID. Successful candidates should have a PhD in applied physics, materials science, or related disciplines. Argonne is a U.S. Department of Energy laboratory managed by UChicago Argonne, LLC. Argonne`s site is approximately 25 miles southwest of Chicago on a beautiful 1500-acre campus-like environment.
