Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  Temporary Postdoctoral Appointee position. Conducts experiments at the accelerator facilities to develop x-ray generating target for use in medical isotope production. Develop positron production target for next generation positron source. Responsible for developing experimental plans and safety documentation, performing calculations and experiments, analyzing data and documenting results in the form of progress reports and technical publications and presentations. Works as a member of a multidisciplinary team developing technologies for basic and industrial applications.
   
  Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  Comprehensive
Comprehensive experience in accelerator base experiments.
  Considerable
Considerable knowledge of neutron and positron science is essential. Considerable knowledge and experience in accelerator-related calculations (e.g., shielding, source modeling, beam profiles, yield estimates etc.) is essential. Considerable skills in both written and oral communication.
  Good
Good knowledge and experience in the field of accelerator-based isotope production is desired. Good experience with photon induced fissile materials signatures, particularly in the context of Safeguards is highly desired. Good experience with X-ray source design and evaluation is desired. Good experience operating Van de Graaff and LINAC accelerators is a strong asset as is experience working in a radiological facility.
