Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  Temporary Postdoctoral Appointee position. Conducts fundamental research on new cathode materials for lithium-air battery. Investigates new electrode catalyst for reversible oxygen reduction and reoxidation. Develops new nanostructured cathode supports through chemical and physical methods. Develops testing protocol to characterize the performance of the integrated electrode material for lithium-air battery application.
   
  Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  Considerable
Considerable knowledge of and experimental expertise in electrocatalysis, nanomaterials, surface chemistry, and instrumental methods. Considerable expertise in porous carbon, nanostructured carbon, and transition metal-based electrocatalysts. Considerable interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  Good
Good knowledge of materials chemistry and physical processing methods. Good skill in data processing, evaluation, and interpretation.
  Some
Some experience in advanced lithium-air battery related materials research is a plus.
  Other
This level of knowledge is typically achieved through a formal education in materials science, physical (electrochemical) chemistry, or applied physics at the Ph.D. degree level with zero to three years of experience or equivalent in the scientific application of this knowledge and practical laboratory experience.
