Jessica Dietzel is the Outreach Lead where she develops and coordinates STEM competitions and other large events for middle and high school aged students. These informal learning programs are designed to inspire, excite and connect youth to STEM experiences. She also creates STEM activities for children and their families and oversees the recruitment and training of on-site scientists and engineers who are part of the education volunteer program.
Mrs. Dietzel is a biologist by education and informal educator by training. Her diverse background led her to Argonne in 2016. Prior to Argonne, she spent 11 years in various formal and informal education and project management roles. In her previous roles she interacted with thousands of youth and families every year inspiring them with activities, shows, and events that all revolved around STEM. She is completing her M.S in Biology from Western Illinois University and holds a B.S. in Marine Biology from Eckerd College.
She serves as webmaster for the Illinois Science Teachers Association and is a member of the National Science Teachers Association, National Association of Biology Teachers, American Association of the Advancement of Science and Women in Science and Technology.
