The Nonproliferation Horizon - Perspectives from Washington, D.C.

Deputy Administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation for the National Nuclear Security Administration Anne Harrington will present "The Nonproliferation Horizon – Perspectives from Washington, D.C." on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at 11 a.m., in the Building 402 Auditorium.

Shuttle service will be provided beginning at 10:15 a.m. with stops at Buildings 201, 212, 202, 240, 203, 208, 200, 205 and 362. Return trips following the talk.

Explosive Creativity: Stoking the Birth of Ideas

Kane Kramer has been invited to present “Explosive Creativity: Stoking the Birth of Ideas” at a Special Seminar on Monday, Nov. 16, 2015, at 2 p.m., in Building 241, Room D-172.

Kramer will share his personal journey of innovation, including the Digital Audio Player that he invented in 1979. Commencing from the place of challenge to creating the conditions for innovation, Kramer will take the audience across disciplines, across four decades, and across thought barriers to offer unique insights on the process of creativity.

Argonne Service Desk Training: Question and Answer Session

A special Question and Answer Session covering the Argonne Service Desk online request tool will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015, in Building 201, Room 190A/B.

Representatives from Facilities Management and Services (FMS) and Computing and Information Systems (CIS) will be available to answer questions regarding the Argonne Service Desk and provide a demonstration. Argonne employees are encouraged to stop in anytime between 9 and 11 a.m. to ask questions and get additional information.

Women in STEM: Connect

The Chicago Council on Science and Technology (C2ST) presents "Women in STEM: Connect" from 6 - 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at the School of the Art Institute Ballroom, 112 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL.

This year's event will feature a lively panel discussion with Q&A, video shorts and will be followed by networking. C2ST welcomes everyone, from women just contemplating a future in a science-related field to career veterans, and all those in between. Men are welcome to attend!


The Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) program will host a special all-day, LDRD Day on Thursday, October 22, 2015, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the APS 402 Auditorium. Poster sessions will be held in the APS 402 Gallery.

Scientists, engineers and researchers can learn how to cultivate new R&D funding opportunities and develop collaborative networks with other researchers.

All interested employees are welcome to attend any of the presentations, poster sessions and networking events. There is no obligation to attend the full day.
