Demonstration confirms market-readiness for small business
Applied Research Associates, Inc., South Royalton, VT
Applied Research Associates, Inc., developed electric cone penetrometer test (ECPT) applications for waste site cleanup. With assistance from Argonne, ARA was able to obtain a contract with the DOE Volatile Organic Compound-Arid Integrated Demonstration program to conduct a series offield tests in which ECPT technology was used to characterize soil contamination.
The tests showed that the ECPT is minimally invasive, faster and less costly than drilling, and permits real-time data processing. These advantages make it potentially cost-effective for use at DOE's Hanford Site.
ARA is currently offering these services nationwide for a variety of site activities.
Argonne provided assistance through its Office of Waste Management Programs, which supports DOE's Office of Environmental Management, Office of Technology Development, in its technology development and demonstration program aimed at implementing innovative technology in DOE's site remediation program.
Working with Argonne
Argonne has many types of contractual agreements to meet the needs and interests of industry, state and local governments, federal agencies and other organizations.
