Argonne Software Aids Learning at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry

Museum of Science and Industry
Chicago, Illinois

Argonne National Laboratory's "MaD" browser software is helping Chicago-area students and residents understand the nature of the soils at their schools and in their back yards, and share their findings with visitors to the Museum and Science and Industry's web site. .

Students and residents obtain test kits from the Museum of Science and Industry to test the soil in their schools and backyards for levels of nitrogen, and phosphorous, and for pH. The results are then entered into a dynamic map, created by Argonne's MaD developers, from the Museum's web site. .

The MaD ("Maps and Data") browser allows the delivery of maps and data over the Web quickly and easily, at far less cost than with typical geographic information systems and special map servers, all without plug-ins.

Working with Argonne
