Simulation work with small business leads to 250 jobs in Illinois

Packer Engineering
Naperville, IL

Packer Engineering worked with Argonne to share advanced computing technology that contributed to the creation of 250 jobs.

An engineer from Packer worked with an Argonne scientist using supercomputers to develop software for describing the behavior of flexible-link-and-sprocket systems for crawler-type vehicles. Later, Packer used its expertise to help a Chicago-area company design a new component for a railroad car that can carry more automobiles to market.

Increased sales of the new component added 250 new foundry jobs to that company's Illinois plant.

Argonne's work with Packer was supported by a grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs.

Working with Argonne
