Energy Innovation Center

The Energy Innovation Center (EIC), scheduled for completion in FY 2017, will be a premier facility for groundbreaking research in understanding the phenomena of electrical energy storage and applying that transformational knowledge to the design and development of next-generation batteries.

The approximately 33,000 to 42,000 gross square foot facility will provide scientific capabilities available nowhere else in energy storage research laboratories.

Building 362 Renovation

Building 362 renovations are scheduled for a two-year phased construction project, beginning in FY 2015 with a projected completion date of FY 2017.

Renovations will help reduce programmatic overhead costs through consolidation and improved use of space. Additionally, it will pave the way for making decisions on emptying older buildings. This will, in the long run, reduce operational costs for the laboratory by allowing for eventual demolition of obsolete buildings.

Materials Design Laboratory

U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science research at Argonne National Laboratory supports the transformation of global energy production and storage. We work towards this by developing revolutionary materials and novel molecular processes. Argonne's Materials Design Laboratory (MDL) will provide a modern, collaborative scientific environment, critical for this initiative to thrive.

Argonne APCF achieves LEED Gold ratingFebruary 13, 2015

Argonne’s Advanced Protein Characterization Facility has received the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification. Construction of the APCF was funded by the State of Illinois.

Agenda: First Integrated Imaging Initiative Workshop on Tomography and Ptychography, Sept 29-30, 2014
