Making fuel from light: Argonne research sheds light on photosynthesis and creation of solar fuel September 1, 2015

Recent experiments at Argonne have afforded researchers a greater understanding of how to manipulate photosynthesis, putting humankind one step closer to harvesting “solar fuel,” a clean energy source that could one day help replace coal and natural gas.

Science Careers in Search of Women

The Science Careers in Search of Women (SCSW) Conference at Argonne, takes place Thursday, April 14, 2016, and provides female high school students an extraordinary opportunity to explore STEM careers through a variety of interactions with Argonne’s world-class researchers and mission-support employees.

Electric Car Competition

Argonne will host the 2016 Regional National Battery Car Competition on Saturday, March 19, 2016, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at CNH Industrial, 6900 Veterans Blvd. Burr Ridge, IL 60527.

The race will take place on a 20 meter track and will consist of time trials. The top teams from the time trials will advance to the modified double elimination.

Rube Goldberg Competition

Argonne's Educational Programs will host the 2016 Rube Goldberg® Competition Friday, February 26, 2016, at the Kohl's Chicago Children's Museum located at Navy Pier.

The contest features area high schools that compete to build a complex machine, comprising over 20 steps, to perform a simple task.

2016 Science Bowl Competition

Argonne's Educational Programs will hold the 2016 Regional Middle School Science Bowl Academic Competition on Friday, February 5, 2016.

Students from local middle schools will compete in a jeopardy style competition at the Advanced Photon Source.
