Argonne – University of Chicago Shuttle

Important: The shuttle may not be used for the purpose of commuting to work. The purpose of the shuttle is to promote collaboration between colleagues at the University of Chicago and Argonne by making it easier for them to visit one another and attend seminars, conference and other events at both campuses. The shuttle does not run on laboratory holidays.

When does the shuttle operate?

The shuttle operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Shuttle service is available on a trial basis through October 27, 2022.

How do I locate the shuttle?

Employees, students and university collaborators who ride the shuttle can track its location on days of operation on the shuttle locator website.

Where does the shuttle stop at the University?

  • University pickup (1): At the corner at 58th Street and Ellis Avenue near the Bookstore (shuttle is traveling southbound on Ellis)
  • University pickup (2): The northwest corner of 55th Street and Lake Park in the Walgreens parking lot

What is the shuttle’s schedule?

The schedule below is effective July 12, 2022. Due to traffic congestion, the shuttle schedule may fluctuate occasionally.

All visitors to Argonne require appropriate authorization before they are allowed on the Argonne site.

  • For information regarding site access for a U.S. citizen please contact the Argonne Information Center at +1-630-252-5755.
  • Site access for foreign nationals who do not already have site access approval requires the completion of a Visit/Assignment Request form (593) and 7- to 30-day advance notice to process the request. For information about site access by a foreign national, call the Foreign Visits and Assignments Office at +1-630-252-1142.

The laboratory’s site-access policy supports its obligation to ensure that classified and sensitive technologies, equipment and information are controlled in compliance with the applicable regulations. 

Hazardous material, such as research chemicals, aerosol cans, paints, solvents, fuel, propane, radioactive materials and oils are prohibited for transport on the shuttle bus.
