Argonne’s excellence and innovation is driven by exemplary leadership. At Argonne, select scientific and support staff are actively identified for, developed into, and recognized in leadership positions. Leadership Development programs are offered for first-level supervisors through executive leaders and focus on developing proficiency in an array of relevant skill sets and subject areas.
In addition to traditional career pathways to leadership, training classes, and yearly awards, Argonne offers a Strategic Laboratory Leadership Program (SLLP). SLLP is sponsored by the University of Chicago and aims to develop participants’ abilities to cohesively, coherently, and agilely steward and lead organizational strategy and change. The program is reserved for 15 nominated employees each year and helps develop participants’ individual strengths, engages and energizes their leadership efforts, and helps them take ownership and accountability for translating strategy into sustainable action.
