The Center for Nanoscale Materials’ (CNM) scientific vision, opportunities, activities and organizational structure are outlined in this strategic plan and will guide the center’s path over the next five years.

CNM's scientific strategy is consolidated under three crosscutting and interdependent scientific themes, noted below.  Collectively, they aim at the discovery and hierarchical integration of materials across different length scales, at the extremes of temporal, spatial and energy resolutions:

Theme I - Quantum materials and sensing

Theme II - Manipulating nanoscale interactions

Theme III - Nanoscale dynamics

Embedded within these three themes and supporting them are the vector capabilities of X-ray microscopy, electron microscopy and computational materials science.
