Energy and Global Security

Collaborative Research

At Argonne, we explore the world together in order to build a better one. The Energy and Global Security (EGS) directorate focuses on  advancing our nation’s energy security, engineering the latest scientific advances to improve materials and the processes to make them, analyzing data and developing tools to enhance safety and security, and protecting critical resources.

Through collaborations—both national and international—we work in concert with universities, industry, and other national laboratories on questions and experiments too large for any one institution to take on alone.

Surrounded by the highest concentration of top-tier research organizations in the world, Argonne and EGS leverage the laboratory’s Chicago-area location and world-class collaborative user facilities such as the Advanced Photon Source and Argonne Leadership Computing Facility to advance discovery and power innovation.
