Next-Generation Photoinjectors for High-Brightness Beams and XFELs

Beams and Applications Seminar

Abstract: A new generation of extreme brightness X-ray free electron lasers (XFELs) is under way, promising to dramatically advance our understanding of physical and biological systems at fundamental spatio-temporal scales. This new generation of XFELs will address the current challenges associated with low acquisition rates, low X-ray cross-section systems, and in situ and operando X-ray techniques. But reaching the brightness levels demanded to exploit the full potential of these transformational scientific tools presents multifaceted challenges.

In this talk, we present a new generation of photoinjector laser architectures to amplify the operational capacity of future ultrahigh beam brightness sources for linacs, XFELs, and other accelerator-based facilities.
