Collaborative Research
Argonne’s Integrated Imaging Institute (I3) provides an interdisciplinary bridge across Argonne’s imaging capabilities and communities. The initiative brings together expertise and capabilities in instrument development, data analysis, simulation & modeling, and visualization from across the laboratory in order to create and manipulate materials to solve many the world’s most pressing challenges, particularly in energy.
Argonne hosts a number of scientific user facilities that are open to the global scientific community through a peer-reviewed user proposal process. Of these, the ones with which I3 works most closely are indicated below:
Advanced Photon Source
The Advanced Photon Source (APS) provides bright, high-energy storage ring-generated x-ray beams for research in almost all scientific disciplines.
Argonne Leadership Computing Facility
The Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF) provides access to leadership-class supercomputing capabilities and a team of expert computational scientists.
Center for Nanoscale Materials
The Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) is a premier user facility providing expertise, instrumentation and infrastructure for interdisciplinary nanoscience and nanotechnology research.
