Haidan Wen

Assistant Physicist

Dr. Haidan Wen is an assistant physicist in the X-Ray Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory. Prior to his current position, he was a research associate at SLAC National Laboratory and Stanford University. He received his Ph.D in physics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2006 and B.S. from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2001.

Dr. Wen's research is focused on investigating ultrafast dynamics of multiple degrees of freedom such as lattice, charge, spin and magnetic orders in complex materials, by sing a wide range of electromagnetic radiation including THz, optical, and X-ray pulses. He is developing new time-resolved X-ray techniques with enhanced spatial resolution for spatio-temporal characterization of mesoscopic phenomena, in material systems such as ferroelectrics, multiferroics, phase-transition materials, and two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides.
