Stefan Wild elected chair of SIAM Activity Group on Computational Science and Engineering

Stefan Wild has been elected chair of the SIAM Activity Group on Computational Science and Engineering (SIAG CS&E).

Wild is a computational mathematician and deputy division director in the Mathematics and Computer Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory. He has held numerous roles in SIAM, including program director of SIAG CS&E and co-editor of SIAG/Opt Views and News; and he is currently secretary of the Optimization activity group (SIAG/Optimization); associate editor of the SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing and lecturer in the SIAM Visiting Lecturer Program.

SIAG CS&E is SIAM’s largest activity group. According to the website, the group fosters collaboration and interaction among applied mathematicians, computer scientists, domain scientists and engineers in those areas of research related to the theory, development, and use of computational technologies for the solution of important problems in science and engineering.” The group also organizes a biennial conference and sponsors early-career and best paper prizes.
