Two MCS division researchers receive DOE Early Career Research Program awards

Bogdan Nicolae and Stefan Wild, researchers in the Mathematics and Computer Science division at Argonne National Laboratory, have received U.S. Department of Energy Early Career Research Program awards.

The program provides each recipient at least $500,000 per year for five years to conduct leading-edge research.

Nicolae,  a computer scientist,  is focusing on a new data model for efficiently storing and processing the massive datasets being generated by modern supercomputers and scientific instruments.

Wild, a computational mathematician, is tackling complex design, decision and control problems by developing novel mathematical methods that can help scientists train and calibrate models, reduce empirical risk and design better experiments.

Further details about their projects, and about other Argonne winners, are on the Argonne website: https://www.anl.gov/article/six-argonne-researchers-receive-doe-early-career-research-program-awards.
