Argonne experts play key role at American Nuclear Society Annual Conference in June

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory will play a leading role at the 2025 American Nuclear Society (ANS) Annual Conference in Chicago from June 15-18. Global nuclear experts will convene to advance the field of applied nuclear science and technology, in a forum for professionals to share knowledge, engage with academic, national laboratory, industry and government leaders, and discuss the latest research and development efforts and advanced nuclear systems deployment plans.

Kirsten Laurin-Kovitz, Argonne’s Associate Laboratory Director for Nuclear Technologies and National Security, will co-chair the conference and moderate a plenary session on Globalizing Nuclear: Building Capacity and Collaboration,” focusing on strategies to meet growing global demand.

Argonne researchers will deliver dozens of technical talks on topics including advanced reactor designs, AI applications, materials development and robotics. The conference will feature a Student Day for local high school and tours of Argonne’s facilities.

Argonne’s efforts support energy goals by enhancing reactor technology, improving plant efficiency, and reducing outages and costs.
