Dr. Karolina Michalska completed her PhD in Chemistry in 2007 at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, Poland. She joined Argonne in 2010 as a postdoctoral appointee at Midwest Center for Structural Genomics and Structural Biology Center. Currently she is a protein crystallographer at Biosciences Division and a fellow at the University of Chicago Computation Institute.
The primary interest of Dr. Michalska is structural biology with a focus on structure – function relationships in biochemical transformations. Currently she works on three major projects involving protein-protein complexes and large oligomeric assemblies. These include bacterial contact dependent growth inhibition (CDI) system, tryptophan synthase and Hsp104/ClpB chaperones.
