Aditya Venkata Ayyagari

Postdoctoral Appointee


Dr. Aditya Ayyagari received is Bachelors degree in Metallurgy and Materials Technology from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, India, after which he worked as Steel Metallurgist and Heat Treatment Specialist at Atlas Copoco (India)Inc. He moved to The University of North Texas, Denton where he obtained his Masters and Doctoral Degrees in Materials Science and Engineering. His areas of research interest include corrosion control and monitoring, wear-friction mitigation, alloy development, advanced electron microscopy, and 2D materials. He has developed two new alloys namely -  Ta-Ti-V-Zr-Hf. and  Ta-Ti-V-Zr-W  using an integrated materials development approach that have a reduced activation property of less than 50 years, compared to state of the steels that have a hands-on time exceeding hundred years. He is a passionate hiker, an avid reader and a ethnic music enthusiast. 

He is currently working with Dr. Anirudha Sumant, Center for Nano-scale Materials (CNM) as Post-Doctoral Research Appointee with focus on high temperature tribology.
