Dr. Dennis W. Dees is a Senior Electrochemical Engineer and Leader of Electrochemical Energy Storage in the Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 1983 and has been at Argonne ever since. Beginning as a postdoctoral appointee and then serving as a research engineer, project manager, and group leader before his present position. Dr. Dees has focused his efforts on the theoretical and experimental aspects of electrochemistry and electrochemical engineering, including conducting research on several advanced battery and fuel cell systems, as well as electrochemical sensor development and calorimetry in electrochemical systems. His efforts since the early 90s have concentrated on advanced lithium and lithium-ion battery technologies.
