Jacqueline Otmanski is an Outreach Instructor for Educational Programs and develops, coordinates, and facilitates outreach initiatives for students, schools, and science/engineering professionals. She shares Argonne’s mission science with the community through activities reflecting the Laboratory’s values and grand challenges. To make this possible, she works closely with Argonne’s scientists and engineers as well as with schools and students. Her goal in Outreach is to help diverse youth develop STEM skills and realize their STEM identities.
Over the course of her academic studies, Jacquie shifted toward merging business with engineering, covering a wide range of agricultural and environmental sciences, and ultimately graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Technical Systems Management. Due to a strong desire to teach, she taught 4th, 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade science as a Teach for America Core member before joining Argonne. In addition to her current outreach work at Argonne, she is completing her M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction for Concordia University of Chicago.
Jacquie is a member of the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE).
